Journey to Getting Ripped: Acclimation with Body of FIRE
64After 2 weeks of workouts
The Journey Continues...
The Second Week
The beginning of week 2 is kind of exciting, and still challenging. You wonder if it will always be like this. (later you learn that it becomes all much easier as your strength and stamina increase as your body adapts).. Most of the getting started feelings start to disappear.
After week 2, things take a turn for the better. The workouts are no longer that tiring, just intense and energizing. While working out your body will sometimes feel really light regardless of how much you weigh. It’s a pretty weird feeling, but kind of cool. It’s a good idea to keep progressing when you have the opportunity to do so and push yourself.
One of the things that definitely helps you go faster is if you can get 7 to 8 hours of sleep consistently, maybe 8 ½ if you’re a heavy sleeper, but anymore than that will just make you groggy and lazy.
By now your muscles should be showing a bit more and this makes you want to work out harder. In fact, you begin to think what you could do for the next 2 weeks that will challenge you more so that you keep making progress. If you’ve never been excited about exercising this may just be a new experience for you.
By the way, a caveat, do not take the Body of FIRE program to be written in stone. The principles are some of the best, but there is no reason why you can’t substitute a particular exercise if you do not enjoy it. For instance, planks are my pet peeve exercise. I don’t really like getting on the floor and balancing on my elbows face down – that type of thing. So I just do something different that works the muscles equally hard. There are just tons of exercises out there and you can pick whatever you want.
Anyway, you will probably appreciate the stretching after your workout because your muscles will feel tight from all of your workout’s contractions. Feel free to stretch longer than 20 seconds if you wish to do so.
Other results after week 2
I have to say that this is a bit confusing. After this week I lost 2 pounds (logically, of fat, but I’m not a scientist), so I pretty much weigh the same as when I started BOF. So I guess it’s true that you can’t really judge progress by the numbers on a weighing scale. (unless you have lots of excess weight, in which case you’ll drop insane amounts of weight when you start working out). Anyway, I’m taking photos so I can see my progress first hand with my own eyes and I’m really curious as to where I will be at the 4 week mark.
Till next time,
